Someone once asked me what I believe about Jesus and who I thought He was. Just to clarify, Christ is not Jesus's last name. Christ means "annointed" or "Messiah", so Jesus the annointed or Jesus the Messiah. According to the Bible (and what I believe), Jesus is the Son of God (Matthew 16:16) who came to earth (Matthew 1-2) and was born by a virgin (Luke 1:27) through the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35). Jesus "did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Matthew 20:28 ). Jesus lived a completely sinless life (1 Peter 2:22). The Bible says that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). That's a problem because God is holy and without sin and because of that we cannot go to heaven and be with God for eternity. We were destined to an eternity in hell seperated for God and the only way for our sins to be forgiven was for the shedding of perfect blood. "But God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8 ). Jesus paid the price and three days later he rose again from the dead. You can spend an eternity in heaven with God "if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead" (Romans 10:9). But that is the only way. John 14:6 says, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." There is the gospel. That's who Jesus is. He saved me and you by dying on the cross to conquer death/sin and to make a way for me if we just accept, believe, and confess, which I have. Jesus is my everything.
